About us

OUR STORY
The journey of the Alliance for Sustainable Livestock (ASL) began with a simple but
urgent realization by Veterinarians and development professionals working to bridge
the gap in last-mile access to animal healthcare. We realized that the challenges that
exist was more than we could solve as a private Veterinary business.
Systemic challenges continue to undermine the drive to prosperity. While livestock
farming is a primary livelihood for millions, of smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and
animal health professionals face barriers that limit productivity, market access, and
resilience to climate change.
Determined to bridge these gaps, a team of veterinarians, livestock experts, and development professionals came together to create
ASL. From the beginning, we knew that business-as-usual approaches wouldn’t work we needed innovative, market-driven, Inclusive
and climate-smart solutions to transform the sector and its productivity.
Today, ASL is at the forefront of livestock transformation in Africa, building a future where sustainable livestock solutions are systems-oriented. Our work continues to be driven by the same passion and commitment that sparked our founding to ensure that livestock
systems are profitable, inclusive and resilient.
